The University of Tampere (UTA), with its nine schools and some 15,000 degree students, is one of the largest and the most competitive universities in Finland. The University of Tampere is Finland's biggest provider of higher education in the field of social sciences and the accompanying administrative sciences. The University of Tampere has the strongest research capacity on public administration in Finland.
Higher education Group (HEG) is a well established teaching and research unit operating at the University of Tampere, School of Management. The School of Management has a unique ‘three to one’ focus that integrates politics, business and public management and policy into one entity. Teaching and research in HEG is concentrated on the topics of HE administration, organisation and economics.
In addition to MARIHE programme HEG offers Finnish non-degree programme as continuing education for administrators and managers working in higher education sector. HEG offers also a Finnish Master programme in higher education administration and management. Previously HEG has been a partner in the European Master Programme in Higher Education (HEEM). The final cohort from HEEM will graduate in 2011. HEG has also granted funding in cooperation with HEGOM for the continuation of the international PhD programme (HEAME) for the period 2012-2015. In addition, HEG offers tailored training services for the personnel of higher education sector in Finland and abroad (especially in Sub-Saharan Africa and China).
